The Sacrifice

Authors Note: It was hard at first to come up with this one great topic to come up with, but my hard  thinking payed off. My Idea for this story was to try put me in Army wife's perspectives. At first it was very difficult to put myself into their shoes but after awhile it felt easy to to write about it. In this writing piece I tried to write as if I was an army wife, which was very difficult for me to do.

Each day waking up and not seeing your husband is the most heart breaking feeling. It gets difficult once other parents ask my children where their dad is and they have to say "dad is away in the army." And all the parents give them sympathy.  It's also really hard for my children that their dad always misses their birthdays, concerts, and parent conferences but I tell them that their dad is not going to make it.

My husband and I don't get to talk to each other very much, because their base does not have telephones. So the only way of communicating is through Skype, even though the picture is blurry the kids and I still get to talk to him. Which they appreciate very much. We only get to skype him once every few weeks. That isn't very much but at least we get to see him. And that is all that matters to us.

I never imagined being an army wife when I was younger but I have learned so many things from it. Throughout my life I always took freedom for gran tit, because I never had any of my family members in the army. Now I know that at any time of the day my husband could get killed in battle. So my kids and I pray for him every night before we go to bed. Now I know what is going on in war without having to watch the news. Every army gets informed with what is going on in war so we know what's happening.

When that one day happens were the sun is shinning down on us and the sky is as blue as the sea I know that this is the day where it all stops. All of the crying of hoping that he every father comes home to their children. And nervousness that we don't lose the war. And most importantly that we don't lose him. The thought of not seeing him for the rest of our lives would destroy our lives forever. And I'm sure any of would take that one sacrifice to save him.

Special Bond

Authors note: In this writing piece I was trying to focus on describing my family members in a different way. I thought that most people describe objects as big, small, skinny, fat.. Instead I decided to use more descriptive words. It was very easy to write about brothers because I see them everyday and get a new perspective of them.

I always wanted my life to just be my mom, dad, and me. As years went by  however, I realized that I was stuck with them my whole life. Yet my brothers are there for me sometimes, it always feels that their there to come up behind you when the time is right and embarrass you.

In some cases my brother Matt is more mature then then the rest of us because he is older. When he has the time to he likes to surprise some one with a pop of silliness. Daniel on the other hand is more of the outgoing one, he's the one that's not afraid to speak his mind.

If something is right he will speak up.  For example, when we went out for dinner I suggested we go to Bravo, Daniel had a different idea. He wanted to go to Asiana's so he blurted out while we were deciding and he had to make sure he got his way. After blurting out in the middle of our conversation that he would like to go to Asiana's, he then had to make sure that his plan was carried out, forcing us to eat at the popular Chinese restaurant.

My favorite topic with both of them is their relationship status. Matthew, which is 18 has had many girlfriends before. He is not afraid to talk up to a girl. Where Daniel thinks that each girl that he meets, is considered a girl/friend. He treats most girls as just one of the guys. Matthew had currently broke up with his girlfriend named Becky Dual because of college starting. I had figured this all out from clues of him not visiting her and phone calls. It's just a special bond that me and my brothers have together and will never lose…..Hopefully.

Memorable Vacation

Authors Note: Over the weekend I processed an idea on creating a story about a memorable vacation.  This Blog post will be a personal narrative about my trip to Orlando, Florida.  In this  piece of writing, I tried to focus on editing my writing for run on sentences.  In addition, I will work on developing a good conclusion.

Every five years my family makes a pilgrimage to our favorite vacationing spot, Walt Disney World in beautiful Orlando, Florida.  Last year we continued this tradition in May over the Memorial weekend.  This was an especially memorable time because we celebrated my parents twentieth anniversary.

What made planning the trip exciting was that I had a say in where we would stay and do.  It was unanimous among the family that we would go back to the Saratoga Springs resort and get the Park Hopper passes.  In addition to going to our old favorites, I suggested visiting a new park as well.  Discovery Cove had been a park that I had been interested in visiting for some time. The park turned out to be more breath taking than seen on t.v.

When at Disney, the first park we went to was Epcot.  We enjoy the performers, shopping, a great meal and of course, the fireworks!  I want the next day we ventured out to Animal Kingdom.  Our favorite ride was the Kali Rapids.  Getting soaked felt great in the hot weather.  The most memorable event that day was when my father and brother got stuck on the Mount Everest ride.  It took some time to get them down.  Of course, we went to the Magic Kingdom where we spent hours waiting in lines to ride some of the best roller coasters like Space Mountain and the Rock and Roll Roller Coaster.  A trip to the Magic Kingdom wouldn't be complete without staying at night to see the Electric Light parade and the fireworks.

To wrap up our trip, we had a nice lunch at an outdoor cafe to reminisce about this trip and previous ones.   The extended weekend sure went fast!  Disney World is surely the place were dreams come true.  Each trip creates new memories and brings back old ones.  I look forward to the next trip four years from now.

My Sisters Keeper Analysis

Authors Note: Trying to figure out what to base your first writing piece of the year is some what difficult. Time after time trying to come up with a good topic to base your story on is frustrating at some points but if you think deeply about what you have more information on you can come up with that one special topic. My mind had kept on going back to My Sister's Keeper because I could go more in depth with My Sister's Keeper then any thing I've done so far. My goals for this piece were not to summarize but to describe in this writing piece.

The Genre of "My Sisters Keeper" is more of drama then anything else. The book is mainly about two sisters, Ana and Kate. Kate had been diagnosed with Leukemia and ever sense Kate's been diagnosed, Ana has had surgeries, shots, and transfusions to help Kate. Each chapter gives me more of a glimpse of reality than fantasy proving that this happens to some families.I do not know any families that have gone through this devastating feeling.

Throughout this book I had found interesting is the language that they use. In some cases people don't mind the swearing in the book. In my case I would choose different descriptive words rather then using swearing. Sometimes I ask to myself why would an author put that in a book?

In one chapter Anna had killed Kate's fish and I had wondered, 'What is the big deal?' Most fish just die in a week or two.I thought that this chapter was not necessary to put in the book, but maybe in the end it has to do with something. I don't know what it would be used for in the end as some big suprise so I guess I'll have to wait and find out.

At the end of the book I was hoping that Kate ends surviving leukemia. I was wondering what would happen if she didn't survive in the end. How would her family react to this crises? And how would Ana take Kate's death? If one person in the family would be the most devastated I think it would be Ana. Ana has had surgeries, shots, and transfusions for Kate. She had done so much for her in her life. I know some of guesses aren't going to be true but I hope most of them will be.

First peak

This Chinese toy reminded me of mardi gras. All of the fun colors in the toy represent peoples costumes plus most people wear masks with feathers on it to hide who they are on this day. Mardi gras is french for Fat Tuesday. This day falls on Tuesday, which is the day before Ash Wednesday. Some people prefer to say that Fat Tuesday is to eat fatty, foods or to confess/give up things before Ash Wednesday. Many people dress up with fun scarves, masks, shoes, etc.

The most popular places that throw big celebrations is New Orleans, Venice, and Spain. In Medieval times, carnevlevarium means to take away or to eliminate meat. A lot of historians think that the first actual American Mardi Gras was created n March 3 1699. This had happened when the French explorers Iberville and Bienville landed in Louisiana, What is home of the lighting city, New Orleans. 1827, a group of students decided to celebrate  Mardi Gras dancing on streets of New Orleans dressed in coustumes for fun.People started to wear crzy costumes on this event.

My first glance at this pig reminded me of bacon.bacon is a cured meat that is from pigs.It is cured buy using quantities of salt. In the United States bacon is usually only made from pork belly, which is the pigs belly. There is also other kinds of bacon like turkey bacon and Canadian bacon. You can eat bacon in any kind of food, such as BLT, Omelet, Rumaki, Tenderloin, Potatoes, Cob salad.

There are also many different cuts of bacon such as Middle bacon, Back bacon, Cottage bacon, Jowl bacon, and Slab bacon. In the United Kingdom & Ireland, they either grill or fry their bacon and in Japan their bacon is usually smocked. Australia & New Zealand usually use middle bacon; however, in the United States we use all different types of bacon. Bacon is a processed meat and half of its calories come from saturated fat which increases your bad cholesterol.

The sight of this seashell reminded me of different oceans. There are 4 different oceans on Earth, Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian ocean. All ocean's are salt water based. In the United States, Hawaii is surrounded by an ocean called the Pacific ocean. The ocean is a home for many sea animals, like sharks, jellyfish, sea turtles, sea horses, stingray, etc. Sea creatures arent the only ones that like the ocean. People who live anywhere near an ocean like to cool off on a hot summer day by taking a dip in the ocean. Some people also like to fish in the ocean too.

The largest ocean is the Pacific ocean, North America, Australia, South America, and Asia border this ocean. Asia, Africa, and Australia border the Indian ocean. Atlantic is bordered by North America, Europe, South America, and Africa.Arctic ocean is surrounded by North America. The Southern ocean i surrounded by South America and Antarctica.Oceans are 3/4 of Earth and we need to take care of them. Many kids and adults make programs to go clean up our beaches or people sometimes just do it for fun too. After all mostly everything ends up in our oceans.

Fall DWA

The cold chills of a fall breeze tingling down my spine and the strong sent of fear coming off of my partner. The stench intensified as we got closer to the power source. Me and Lucas, my partner who is currently drenched in fear, having been preparing for this moment in spy training our whole lives. We have yet to discover what this powerful source is capable of doing.

Lucas and I decided to search for clues. When we were walking we stumbled upon some ripped wires and some sparks. We had thought in our heads that those were left over from the power source. Instead, It turns out that those broken wires and sparks were just from a normal citizens light post.

The next search was a complete success. We found one clue after another. They each had something in common. They all involved something with pets. From one saying “The greatest pet is the on that you pick out together with your family” to the last clue saying “All animals meet on one street, greens street.”

Nights after nights trying to put all clues together so they would make sense just got exhausting. Lucas and I decided to bring in help. The next day we called up our friends who is also a spy like us to crack these clues. In an hour we heard the door bell ring. We were greeted by a polite hello by Sam. After greeting one another we got right down to business. Minutes by minutes kept passing by but we had no luck. Approximately five hours after we started, a brilliant idea popped into Lucas head. The last clue had said “All animals meet on one street, green street.”  Lucas knew that in Boston Massachusetts they had a pet shop on Green St. We decided to take this chance and go find this power source.

It had only took us five minutes for us to find gremlin’s pet shop. Our detector was going off crazy but there was no sight of the power source. We decided to go inside to take a better look at things. Lucas kept on sneezing while we were by the cats and distracted him from his work. Finally he snapped out of it. I went over by the dogs to see if the detector went off over there. It did but we don’t know where it is. The strongest is down under me. How is that possible? There must  be some way to get down there. Lucas and I searched for a secret door way, I had no luck finding one. five minutes Lucas stumbled upon dog food and picked it up. When he had picked it up it opened a secret door. We went in about a mile and started hearing a beeping noise followed by sirens. Lucas gave me  this nervous look when he heard the noises. I told him to keep walking with his eyes peeled for anything. We heard a noise again but this was no siren or beeping it sounded like big booms. We dashed out as quick as we could but we didn’t make it back. Rocks after rocks were pilled upon us, struggling to get out. Lucas got out first and helped me up. We were both severely injured by the heavy rocks. Me and Lucas had just realized that the power source had turned on an alarm and hit a self destruct button to cause all of the rocks in the cave to fall. Then and there we realized that this was truly mission impossible and we had failed.
